Hi,

I noticed there are a lot of plans for side events such as smash bros tournaments. I'm slightly worried that this will occupy the practice room and TV's. Last year it barely happened that I couldn't find a TV to practice on. but if there are more than two times as many visitors and side tournaments in addition to it, I'm somewhat worried.
Thread title:
most of the side events seem to be scheduled within the 2nd/short stream schedule, so they should be fine, also i think in terms of practise i guess a rule of if your run is coming up shortly then you have priority shouldn't be too much trouble/be too weird. and since most of them are spread out over the week i wouldn't imagine all of them actually happening at similar times, i understand where your concern comes from, but it should be just fine i think.

It would be nice if a member of the organisation replied to this as well. I share Partystar's concern, especially after reports from AGDQ, where apparently the practice rooms were constantly populated by groups playing Smash Bros all day long.

I remember from last year the waiting time for a TV to become available was reasonably ok (usually even non-existant), but then we were with ~80 people...now we have over 200 sign-ups and are using exactly the same space (correct?). Maybe it's not necessary to be nazis about this issue, but some sort of official policy/statement on this would still put my mind at ease.

I'm very happy to play vice dictator if required (and Edenal's not around or whatever ;) ) kicking people out of the practice room, if it required for marathon-relevant speedrunning practice. I can and will resort to turning off the console(s) xD
But yeah, question is, how many TVs we actually have. The more the better. If I remember correctly at FakESA, Edenal said he would donate a number of the TVs we had there to ESA proper somehow. I'll also copy this discussion into our Skype group (that is, if I don't forget ^^').

It would be dragging if you have to check out first whether someone is practicing for the marathon or not. I can also see that people might be shy to ask. I won't be around the practice room all day long. Last year I hanged out a lot in the kitchen. I'm not playing games all day long, but I might just wanna play for two hours or do another practice run after my run is over. It might also be a bit annoying if you finally managed to find a TV to play that 2 hours day session, and someone else has to kick you away again to practice a game.
My bad. I haven't been paying much attention to this forum since the game suggestions started on the SDA forum.

I also share your concerns about the TV's. All I can say for now is there will be more TV's than last year and the majority will be designated for practice.

What it really comes down to is money. Given an additional 500€ in budget, we would have no problems getting another 20 televisions and transport them to Skövde. But we don't.

Maybe we could have 2 different kind of passes give out this year instead of one.
One that is for the people that is going to participate and one for the rest, that way you can see if he/she is participating as a player or not in the practise room.

Problem with this idea would be the not filled slots on the short stream, in which possibly non runners could still get their games fitted in(still praying some way or another i can sneak in a run that way :P) they would like to have some practise time too i'd imagine, also learning from other players at the event and being able to practise that would be nice too, and imo one of the intentions of such a get together i'd think. these "newer" runners would possibly not have a player pass because their run/skilllevel was simply not good enough at the time of submission to play/compete with the best

Problem with this is that running attendees could have had their runs early during the week and playing Mariokart for fun during the rest.

But then at least u had easier to knowing who is a runner and who is just there playing for fun for real on the tv sets.
And jasper these pass would also be for the ones on second stream, why would u consider them less runners then the others if they are actually on the schedule?

But hey it was just an idea how to make it easier to see who is actually there for playing in the practise room.
Since it will be such a huge number of people this time it will be even harder this year to separate them from the flock.

i wans't considering them of lesser runners, i'm talking about the holes in the second stream, that will have runs filled in on the spot(which are obviously not very planned or known before the event starts) these people that could be in one of those slots might want to practise in a "just in case" scenario, but your passes system would leave them hanging on either side of the passes.

nope they wouldent since they would have a runner pass ass well..
anyone that is considered in the schedule in any way should have one.
or if that's such a worrying stage we could have like last years guest pass but for practise room as well.
so if you are not 100% sure if you going to be on it just ask for a pass for practice room at that time and then give it back when you are finished.
