I was just thinking of an idea that might be fun to go trough for next years ESA.

Remember thous awesome ID badges we had this year,
the only thing that was missing on them was more personal key chains
then the ones that was with them.

I had an idea that we could create our own personal
(no I don't mean one for each person, just one that is with an ESA design) key chain for the event on this site
http://www.spreadshirt.se/designa-egen-t-shirt-C59/department/5/productType/15
(you have to click the key chain in the list to the left to see them)

I was also thinking if just for the funzies we could create some STAFF shirts?
I think it would be a really nice idea.

How do the rest of you stand about either of these two things?
Thread title:
I'm all for ESA-products like t-shirt and what not.

However STAFF-shirt is something I'm strongly against. I had made STAFF-badges last year but decided to not print them. Why?
Because I believe that would create a barrier between runners, attendants and staff. (Which is also why the badges says attendee and not runner).

If you want to cursedolls. Start looking into a product line with t-shirt / key-chains / coffee-mugs / whatever. That we each attendee can order when signing up. As long as everyone has the same opportunity to acquire each product.

ok well we can at least do key chains then.
it would be just like this year that everyone get their name tag but now with our own key chain attached to it.

we could also have an ESA t-shirt though that people can decide if they want to buy.
and to be able to get one u have to write your shirt size on your sign up for the event it self.

then we just count them all in and order the shirts thats wanted like we did with the air mattresses this year.

so if u want a shirt you pay lets say an extra 100 sek for that shirt to your sing up/entrence fee.

what do you think about that?
There's a major increase in expense getting those keychains. I think we payed 5 SEK each for those we had last year.

In general having ESA-products is a great addition. Though someone has to be responsible for that task.

With such small volumes there's a major risk ordering anything in advance. I believe looking for a partnership with a store selling t-shirts and other stuff would be the way to go, if you just want to get the products out there and leave the profit to the parter.

I wouldn't mind helping in that task at all.
As long as theirs interests, and i have used this site before the quality for the items you get are really good.

If they paid 200 sek for a t-shirt as a memory from the event then we would be paying around 40 sek for each shirt.
A shirt with print and text is around 242 sek. You also get discount for the more products you order.

And ofc we dont order in advance.. not the shirts anyway..
For thous we need to know if they want one or not, then they have to pay that extra into their sign up fee..
I would like to strike a deal with that american company SDA uses, they have alot of great artists and cheap deals. But no forced fees on attendies, let them all decide if they want a shirt or not! :)

svenne i never said its forced.. i said IF you want the shirt then you pay the extra fees to get it..

I can see your point, and I agree that ESA doesn't need a differentiation between staff and attendee. However, I do believe that there will be a critical mass from which onwards having dedicated 'staff' badges would be an idea: Once it gets really big (think AGDQ-big) it would be helpful to recognise the people in charge, in case you need to ask them something or whatnot. Think convention style: The last (mini-) convention I visited, staff had orange fabric … things (some made it into an armband, others into a headband etc.), so when I saw that the men's toilets needed paper, I knew which people to look for. It's not supposed to create a rift between staff/runner, it would be supposed to show 'you can ask these people, if you have any kind of organisational question.

That said, ESA keychains sound like a damn cool idea™ ^^
I'm all for ESA products, and having some say to identify staff is always good, but nothing like shirts if that's the case. I'm used to arranging conventions, both small and medium-sized, and it wouldn't work without some way to identify staff. I don't think it's absolutely neccessary for something like ESA, at least not yet, but it definitely wouldn't hurt.

the thing about all this and the STAFF thing is, it might help when you need to ask something, but generally it would sort of put a wall in between the players and staff, and that is unfortunate and definitely not intended, and to be honest, i'd think when you enter the event you'll be signing in with staff and there will always be staff on the donation station, so i think you could always find staff, or find people that can direct you to staff members and shirts or other indicators are not needed, atleast not as of yet

I think we have already covered the discussion about the staff part already..
Right now we are talking about ludendi specific key chains and ludendi specific t-shirts.

That's where we are right now.

I want or I think(!) it would be fun to create a shirt that is for the ludendi event alone that you can buy
and bring home as a memory from the event.

And that's where we are right now.

To be able to do this we would have to have an extra fee to that sign up fee from the people that want to buy one (or more).
And as I said to be able to go around with the whole idea the fee has to be around 200 sek which is 22,33 euro.

Do you think that is an idea that people will like as well?

and I repeat myself this fee is not FORCED upon everyone only on those that wants the shirt.

that sounds like a great idea and it should work out for the people that want it :) i'd say go right ahead.

also to go back a little bit to the yetee.com thing. You cannot design your own keychain on their website, BUT:

this would mean you could probably ask to talk with a few of the designers about how you want them to look like, and they could produce a few test designs, and they may even come out better that you could've imagined or expected, i'd keep that option open, it might be something that is better than we think :)

I can contact them and see yes.. but only if its cheaper then the other site..
The thing is on that first site you get a discount if you order a lot of items.

So if we would buy both t-shirts and key chains it might be cheaper then the amarican site.
But yeah I will contact them and see.

i'd say do what you think is best, and imho you cant expect to get a lot of items in advance because you dont really know yet who is realistically going to buy them as of yet, but that's just my view on it i guess

I'm not going to pre buy anything..
We will only buy the shirts after we know who wants what and how many.

And by we I mean I hope our ESA budget would cover it :)

I'm totally for ESA-shirts! It's easy just add a "yes, I want a t-shirt"-box to the sign-up sheet.
If it's absolutely necessary to identify staff, we could have a designated badge worn by the person in charge at the moment. Like a "Questions? Ask me!"-badge or something like it.

Ok if we gonna do this right with the shirts I just want to throw it out there in this post.
Do you people prefer a black shirt with a print or a white shirt with a print?
I guess black or white is the best basic colores to use instead of like blue green red etc..

Edit:
Ok now I have mailed to http://theyetee.com/ and I'll see what they say when they reply.
black shirst would be the best, especially if people might just have sweat problems or anything like that it won't show up too soon on stream or idk whatever(atleast imho) also it is the most basic color indeed
It's also the most boring color.
100% gamer
maybe boring but its easyer to please more people with a clean colour then a spicy one.
plus it still will be a print on it.
